The TCEA Robotics competition focuses on the use of LEGO Mindstorms kits. Two competitions are held at the event: Inventions and Arena. There are two levels of competition: Intermediate and Advanced, intermediate for jr. high students and advanced for high school students. Furthermore, there are area competitions and a state competition.

In the arena competition, teams are to build robots that will complete specific, and sometimes complex, tasks.

In inventions, teams are to build a robot to solve a certain, specific problem and devise a marketing plan to "sell" the robot to the panel of judges.
